Discusses the sketch for this work: “First of all, it’s almost all pink. That reminded me of childhood. And then it is sort of … standing on one leg, playful shapes. And a play was playing on Broadway at that time, Toys in the Attic, so I swiped the name because that came to my mind” (Slobodkina Interview, March 26, 1991, Tape I, Side II).
