“The little red begins to move all over the picture from top to bottom and goes out on one side…it escapes from the picture…They were driving me crazy in those days. That was in the period of Op art and they were blinding themselves and I can’t compete with them in that field because I haven’t got the eyes for that so I went and I bought striped material and I made the picture and the dress at the same time” (Slobodkina Interview, March 26, 1991, Tape III, Side I).
