Pezzo the Peddler and the Circus Elephant

written by Esphyr Slobodkina and illustrated

Published in 1964 by Abelard-Schuman

About the Illustrations: Pezzo The Peddler & the Circus Elephant was produced using collage and colored pencil.   The illustration layout is typical of Slobodkina’s flair for  abstract design incorporating many of angles and planes.

About the Story: Although Slobodkina wrote this story as a follow-up to “Caps for sale” it is now considered a prequel since the mischievous monkeys are absent in this story.
