Caps for Sale & Other Caps Tales: A Musical Narrative and workshop (5-8)
An interactive, hands-on experience – 40 participants per group.
This workshop is a 90-minute cultural event that gives children and grandparents an opportunity to learn how the illustrations in the highly acclaimed children’s book Caps for Sale were made.
It is a lively, interactive program designed so that children and grandparents participate together in the musical presentation and then try their hand at experimenting with collage, making an illustration of their own.
Program Time: 90 minutes (can be modified).
Program Participation: Up to 40 participants per group.

About the Artist and Author
Ann Marie Mulhearn Sayer met Esphyr Slobodkina in 1996, when she was hired to write musical narratives for Caps for Sale and other Slobodkina books. Slobodkina and Sayer became close friends. Sayer has administered and exhibited Esphyr Slobodkina’s works for over eighteen years. Through these posthumous performances, Sayer reawakens Slobodkina’s voice for this young generation.
