Honoring the Life and Work of Esphyr Slobodkina

Building upon the creative achievements of artist, author, and children’s book illustrator Esphyr Slobodkina, we at the Slobodkina Foundation offer a model for individuals to live productively at every age through programs that enrich the minds of children and elevate the spirit of seniors.

Artwork

The Slobodkina Foundation houses over 500 original artworks created by Esphyr Slobodkina throughout her lifetime, from 1920 to 2002.

Highlights include pioneering abstract works from the 1930s and 1940s, preliminary sketches and illustrations for her best-selling children’s books, and unique sculptures assembled from everyday household materials.
